The Regional Board oversees all the teams within Great Britain and Ireland.
We are responsible for maintaining Beginning Experience® within our Region.
Part of our duties is to regularly assess the region's teams through the recommissioning process. This ensures teams are up to date, working from the current manuals and recommendations, and helping to improve the general running of the programmes throughout our region.
Members of the current regional board were nominated and voted in at an Annual General Meeting in July 2025 of the Regional Board with the BERB steering group. Each team within the region has representation on the Regional board, so all teams have advice and support when needed.
Every 2 years there is a Regional Board Conference, hosted by a different team each time. We offer support in planning and arranging the conference and provide training sessions and fun sessions throughout the conference.
We also coordinate the resources needed to run the different Beginning Experience® programmes, from manuals, leaflets and newly offered promotional materials and branded materials for use by the teams.
We as a board meet regularly, and are the first port of call for any challenges that a team within our region may have.
Our president sits on the International board and thus keeps up to date with the latest news and is our liaison between our region and the international board
The president of the GB and Ireland Board is currently Lie Wah Chow. Lie Wah is available for help and guidance about specific matters in the region that perhaps don't relate to another board member's job.
Maureen Lydon is the Vice President for the Regional Board.
Anne Clark is the Secretary for the Regional Board. She organises all regional board meetings, and keep the board appraised of any issues. The secretary is available for help and guidance about any general matters in the region.
Marie Carson is our Treasurer, supported by Brian Duffy. She oversees the finances of the Regional Board and would be the point of contact for any queries regarding accounts for the region's individual teams. A copy of all Teams' yearly accounts should be sent to the board annually via the Treasurer.
Our data operations officer is part of the team that coordinates and runs the GDPR training for all teams and is available for any queries relating to data protection from any of the teams.
Lie Wah is responsible for creating and maintaining our new website and other social media platforms. Lie Wah is involved in raising the profile of Beginning Experience® within our region. Our aim is to spread awareness of Beginning Experience and encourage more participants from varied walks of life.
Our Accounts Control Officer for the Regional Board ensures that every team follows the guidelines of GDPR. She also links in with all teams and reviews each team annually.
Lie Wah is the marketing officer on the regional board. She is also on the International board for marketing Beginning Experience®. Her role is to increase the awareness of Beginning Experience® within our region. If you would like information about Beginning Experience®, the teams etc then she is the first point of call.
